The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Mr Chris Bowen, announced a government decision that families and unaccompanied children asylum seekers would be placed in the community, a decision to be implemented over the next nine months. ALHR response to the Joint Standing Committee on Migration’s Report on its Inquiry into Migration Treatment of Disability, tabled 21 June 2010 report recommendations on the “health requirement” for visa applicants. ALHR made a submission to this inquiry on 19 July 2010.
