Scrutiny of Legislation Conference being held at Parliament House, Brisbane, from 26 to 28 July 2011
Every two years, members of parliamentary committees from Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere come together with people who support or have interest in their work. They discuss legislation, the rule of law and human rights principles. Your participation in the 2011 conference would be welcome.
The three-day conference will be opened by Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Governor of Queensland, and the Hon John Mickel MP, Speaker of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
Confirmed speakers include Sir Gerard Brennan AC KBE, former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia, the Hon Paul de Jersey AC, Chief Justice of Queensland, and the Hon Judy Spence MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Parliamentary Reform and Leader of the House.
Delegates attending the conference dinner at the Gallery of Modern Art will be able to access two outstanding exhibitions, Land, Sea and Sky:
Contemporary Art of the Torres Strait Islands and Surrealism: The Poetry of Dreams.
